Roy Thomas adapted the two Norvell Page sword-and-sorcery adventures for Marvel Comics’ Conan the Barbarian comic books in the 1970s and early ’80s. Prester John morphs into Conan, and John’s treacherous sidekick, Bourtai, remains himself in the “Flame Winds.” The panel above features dialog that’s almost word-for-word taken from Page’s novel.
