- Christopher Paul Carey and Cathy Mann Wilbanks, both of Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc., celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary as part of ERBFest. They talk with authors Chris Adams, Win Scott Eckert, and Will Murray about expanding the Burroughs Universe.
- Sword and sorcery in “The Unique Magazine”
- Robert E. Howard expert Morgan Holmes discusses sword and sorcery stories appearing in Weird Tales. 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the fantasy and horror fiction magazine.
- The Spider, master of men!
- Chris Kalb, co-publisher at Age of Aces books and an expert on The Spider, moderates a discussion about the pulp character with authors Gary Phillips and Will Murray. The panel was part of the celebration of 90 years of the great pulp heroes.
- Conan the multimedia barbarian
- author Jim Beard examines the multimedia appearances of Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian. The presentation was part of the celebration of 90 years of the great pulp heroes.
- Weird Tales on radio
- old-time radio expert Karl Schadow looks at radio adaptations of stories that appeared in Weird Tales. 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the fantasy and horror fiction magazine.
- Doc Savage: the man — and myth — of bronze
- authors Christopher Paul Carey and Win Scott Eckert explore two of Philip José Farmer’s books, Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life and Escape From Loki, and Farmer’s contributions to Doc Savage’s history and mythology. The panel was part of FarmerCon 18.
- It’s a jungle out there
- Henry G. Franke III, the editor of The Burroughs Bulletin, the journal of The Burroughs Bibliophiles, and Ed Hulse, editor and publisher at Murania Press, look at Tarzan of the Apes and other jungle adventures found in the pulps. The panel was part of ERBFest.
- Those weird men’s adventure magazines
- the co-editors of the Men’s Adventure Library, Bob Deis and Wyatt Doyle, discuss those weird men’s adventure magazines, as part of the 100th anniversary of Weird Tales, the fantasy and horror fiction magazine.
- Illustrating Conan for the commercial market
- artists Don Simpson, Mark Schultz, and Mark Wheatley discuss illustrating Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian for books and magazines. The presentation was part of the celebration of 90 years of the great pulp heroes.
- J. Allen St. John, master of fantasy art
- artist and pulp art historian David Saunders examines the career of J. Allen St. John, a master of fantasy art. The presentation was part of ERBFest.
- Weird editors
- Tony Davis, former editor of The Pulpster, moderates a discussion with author and editor Darrell Schweitzer, and John Betancourt, author and publisher at Wildside Press. The two, along with George H. Scithers, revived Weird Tales in 1988. 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the fantasy and horror fiction magazine.
- The sports stories of Rod Serling
- Nicholas Parisi, the author of Rod Serling: His Life, Work, and Imagination and president of the Rod Serling Memorial Foundation, discusses the sport stories of Rod Serling. The presentation was part of the celebration of a centennial of the sports pulps.
- 100 years of “The Moon Maid”
- Christopher Paul Carey, Henry G. Franke III, and Garyn Roberts discuss Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Moon trilogy on its 100th anniversary. Carey is author of several authorized Burroughs continuation novels; Franke is the editor of The Burroughs Bulletin, the journal of The Burroughs Bibliophiles; and Roberts has written extensively about the pulps and has edited several collections of pulp stories. The panel was part of ERBFest.
- Doc Savage and his offspring
- Jennifer DiGiacomo moderates a panel discussion about Doc Savage and several imitators who would follow him to newsstands. Joining her are authors Win Scott Eckert, Craig McDonald, Will Murray, and Gary Phillips. The panel was part of the celebration of 90 years of the great pulp heroes.
- Sport Story Magazine and its pulp competitors
- journalist and pulp historian Michelle Nolan and pulp collector Alex Daoundakis discuss the first all-sports pulp magazine, Sport Story, and its pulp competitors. The presentation was part of the celebration of a centennial of the sports pulps.
