Now, I have no idea what will happen as he was still working on the next one and some other works as well.<\/p>\n<p>One item he had done on his own website was a list of 100 New Pulp works. It was originally 25 (I thought 50) and was expanded as more <a title=\"New Pulp\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/category\/new-pulp\/\">New Pulp<\/a> works appeared. It covers a variety of genres: pulp hero, mystery, fantasy, occult detective, etc., and from a variety of authors (successful and relatively obscure).<\/p>\n<p>As this is a good list, I thought I&#8217;d help get the word out by posting it here with some of my comments, as several of them I have read and reviewed here, or hope to. Plus I can&#8217;t seem to find this list online any more, so want to be sure it&#8217;s out there.<\/p>\n<p>This list is alphabetized by title.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><em><a title=\"Brother Bones\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/brother-bones\/\">Brother Bones<\/a><\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Ron Fortier\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/ron-fortier\/\">Ron Fortier<\/a><\/strong>. This is Ron&#8217;s original pulp-style dark avenger hero. I have yet to get into these.<\/li>\n<li><em>Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter<\/em> by <strong>Seth Graham Smith<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>Adonis Morgan (Nobody Special)<\/em> by <strong>Frank Byrns<\/strong>. This stars <strong>Bass Reeves<\/strong>, who was real black marshal in the Old West.<\/li>\n<li><em>Black Pulp<\/em> by various authors<\/li>\n<li><em>Blackthorn: Thunder on Mars<\/em> by various authors<\/li>\n<li><em>The Bone Eater King<\/em> by <strong>Steve Van Samson<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>The Bone Queen<\/em> by <strong>Andrea Judy<\/strong> is a spin out from the Pulpster series (see below) with this occult menace.<\/li>\n<li><em>Bulldog Drummond: On Poisoned Ground<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"I.A. Watson\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/i-a-watson\/\">I.A. Watson<\/a><\/strong>. This book gives us a modern re-interpretation of this classic pulp-adjacent character. I am more familiar with the author&#8217;s many <strong><a title=\"Sherlock Holmes\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/sherlock-holmes\/\">Sherlock Holmes<\/a><\/strong> stories.<\/li>\n<li><em>Casefiles of the Royal Occultist<\/em> by <a title=\"Joshua Reynolds\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/joshua-reynolds\/\">Joshua Reynolds<\/a>. This is one of the first collections of Reynold&#8217;s occult detective <strong><a title=\"Charles St. Cyprian\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/charles-st-cyprian\/\">Charles St. Cyprian<\/a><\/strong>, set in post WWI England (and elsewhere).<\/li>\n<li><em>Changa&#8217;s Safari<\/em> by <strong>Milton Davis<\/strong>. This is the first of a series starting a black prince in 15th-century Africa.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Choking Rain<\/em> by <strong>Brian K. Lowe<\/strong>, is the first of the Nemesis series.<\/li>\n<li><em>Creeping Dawn: The Rise of the Black Centipede<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Chuck Miller\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/chuck-miller\/\">Chuck Miller<\/a><\/strong>. This is the first adventure with his unique New Pulp hero.<\/li>\n<li><em>Damballa<\/em> by <strong>Charles Saunders<\/strong>. This is one of several black, pulp-inspired heroes from the late author.<\/li>\n<li><em>Dark Universe<\/em> by various authors<\/li>\n<li><em>The Dead Sheriff<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Mark Justice\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/mark-justice\/\">Mark Justice<\/a><\/strong>. This is the first of this series by the late author. Others have since written further with the character.<\/li>\n<li><em>Devil&#8217;s Due<\/em> by <strong>Percival Constantine<\/strong>. This is the first of a series starring <strong>Luthor Cross<\/strong>, a half-demon occult detective.<\/li>\n<li><em>Dillon and the Voice of Odin<\/em> by Derrick Ferguson. This is the first Dillon novel, and I enjoyed the whole series.<\/li>\n<li><em>Dire Planet<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Joel Jenkins\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/joel-jenkins\/\">Joel Jenkins<\/a><\/strong> is his Barsoom-inspired planetary-romance series of nine volumes so far. I&#8217;ve read many of his works, but this is one I haven&#8217;t read.<\/li>\n<li><em>Doc Ardan: City of Gold and Lepers<\/em> by <strong>Guy d\u2019Armen<\/strong>. Adapted by <strong><a title=\"Jean-Marc Lofficier\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/jean-marc-lofficier\/\">Jean-Marc Lofficier<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a title=\"Randy Lofficier\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/randy-lofficier\/\">Randy Lofficier<\/a><\/strong>. This is an adaptation of an obscure French adventure character who was turned into an early <strong><a title=\"Doc Savage\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/category\/pulp-links\/doc-savage\/\">Doc Savage<\/a><\/strong> pastiche, which has allowed for new stories. We&#8217;ve also seen more stories from this author.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Doc Vandal Omnibus<\/em> by <strong>Dave Robinson<\/strong>. This book collects the first three novels of this dieselpunk Doc Savage pastiche. It&#8217;s another fun series that I&#8217;ve enjoyed.<\/li>\n<li><em>Doctor Omega and the Shadowmen<\/em> by various authors. This collects new stories using <a title=\"Doctor Omega\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/doctor-omega\/\">an early French sf character<\/a> who is eerily similar to the original <strong>Doctor Who<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><em>Doctor Orient<\/em> by <strong>Frank Lauria<\/strong>. This brings back an occult-detective series from the 1970s.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Dunfield Terror<\/em> by <strong>William Meikle<\/strong>. Here is one of many of the author&#8217;s Lovecraftian-inspired works.<\/li>\n<li><em>Eight Against the Darkness<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Mark Allen Vann\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/mark-allen-vann\/\">Mark Allen Vann<\/a><\/strong>. This is the first of a trilogy with eight different genre characters fighting evil in their own worlds, who will eventually come together. The second is out, and I&#8217;m looking forward to the final.<\/li>\n<li><em>Everfair<\/em> by <strong>Nisi Shawl<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none; padding-left: 0;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/10\/evil-in-pemberley-house.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[11755]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-17370\" src=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/10\/evil-in-pemberley-house-653x1024.jpg\" alt=\"The Evil in Pemberley House\" width=\"350\" height=\"549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/10\/evil-in-pemberley-house-653x1024.jpg 653w, https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/10\/evil-in-pemberley-house-191x300.jpg 191w, https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/10\/evil-in-pemberley-house-768x1205.jpg 768w, https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/10\/evil-in-pemberley-house.jpg 956w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>The Evil in Pemberley House<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Philip Jos\u00e9 Farmer\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/philip-jose-farmer\/\">Philip Jos\u00e9 Farmer<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a title=\"Win Scott Eckert\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/win-scott-eckert\/\">Win Scott Eckert<\/a><\/strong> is another Doc Savage pastiche where Eckert finished Farmer&#8217;s novel with his take on Doc Savage&#8217;s daughter in a gothic novel set in England.<\/li>\n<li><em>Fight Card: Felony Fists<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Paul Bishop\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/paul-bishop\/\">Paul Bishop<\/a><\/strong> (writing as <strong>Jack Tunney<\/strong>). This is actually part of a multi-author series that harkens back to the fight or boxing pulp stories, a subgenre of sports pulps.<\/li>\n<li><em>Fight Card: The Cutman<\/em> by <strong>Mel Odom<\/strong> (writing as Jack Tunney)<\/li>\n<li><em>Fred Adams Jr., Pulp Writer<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Fred Adams Jr.\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/fred-adams-jr\/\">Fred Adams Jr.<\/a><\/strong> At present, I have only read his Sherlock Holmes stories and not much else. But I did enjoy those.<\/li>\n<li><em>From Here to Timbuktu<\/em> by Milton Davis<\/li>\n<li><em>From the Shadows<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"John L. French\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/john-l-french\/\">John L. French<\/a><\/strong>. This is part of his series of <strong>Mystic Investigators<\/strong> that also includes some of his pulp-style characters.<\/li>\n<li><em>Ghosts of Manhattan<\/em> by <strong>George Mann<\/strong>. Here is the first novel with this pulp-inspired steampunk hero.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Green Lama Unbound<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Adam Garcia\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/adam-lance-garcia\/\">Adam Garcia<\/a><\/strong>. This book provides new stories with this classic pulp hero, approved by the author&#8217;s estate.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Green Lama: Crimson Circle<\/em> by Adam Garcia<\/li>\n<li><em>Hawk: Hand of the Machine<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Van Allen Plexico\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/van-allen-plexico\/\">Van Allen Plexico<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>Hell&#8217;s Empire<\/em> edited by <strong><a title=\"John Linwood Grant\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/john-linwood-grant\/\">John Linwood Grant<\/a><\/strong>. This is the man behind the <em><a title=\"Occult Detective Magazine\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/occult-detective-magazine\/\">Occult Detective Magazine<\/a><\/em>, and this is collection of tales about Hell trying to breach Victorian England.<\/li>\n<li><em>Helmet Head<\/em> by <strong>Mike Baron<\/strong>. I am more familiar with Baron&#8217;s comicbook work, especially <em>Nexus<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><em>Hitwolf<\/em> by Fred Adams Jr. There is a second novel.<\/li>\n<li><em>How the West Was Weird<\/em> by various authors<\/li>\n<li><em>Hugh Monn-Private Detective<\/em> by <strong>Lee Houston Jr.<\/strong> This is the first of this series with a human detective in an alien world.<\/li>\n<li><em>Imaro<\/em> by Charles Saunders<\/li>\n<li><em>Jezebel Johnston: Birth of a Buccaneer<\/em> by <strong>Nancy Hansen<\/strong>. This book is about a female pirate, by this new author of fantasy and other works.<\/li>\n<li><em>Karen Memory<\/em> by <strong>Elizabeth Bear<\/strong>. Bear is a fairly successful science-fiction author with two Hugo awards.<\/li>\n<li><em>Legends of New Pulp Fiction<\/em> by various authors. This massive collection of New Pulp covers a wide range of genres and authors that shows the breadth of the field.<\/li>\n<li><em>Lie Catchers<\/em> by Paul Bishop. This is one of the authors several detective works, which he knows as an LAPD veteran.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Light of Men<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Andrew Salmon\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/andrew-salmon\/\">Andrew Salmon<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>Lightning Wears a Red Cape<\/em> by <strong>Errick Nunnally<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>Lobster Johnson: The Satan Factory<\/em> by <strong>Thomas E. Sniegoski<\/strong>. Martin<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><em>The New Adventures of Foster Fade<\/em> by various authors. This collects new stories using one of <strong><a title=\"Lester Dent\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/lester-dent\/\">Lester Dent<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s early <a title=\"gadget heroes\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/gadget-heroes\/\">gadget heroes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><em>Nick Nomad and the Hammer of Lemuria<\/em> by <strong>Myles Campbell<\/strong>. This is a take on the 1930s adventurer tale.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Nightmare Strikes<\/em> by John L. French. This is one of several of his pulp-style heroes I&#8217;ve read and reviewed. All of them are good.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Old Man<\/em> series by <strong>William Preston<\/strong> is an interesting series of short stories with a Doc Savage pastiche. I look forward to the planned final one.<\/li>\n<li><em>Once Upon a Time in Africa<\/em> by <strong>Balogun Ojetade<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>The Order of the Black Silk<\/em> by <strong>Kimberley Richardson<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>The Peregrine Omnibus<\/em>, Vol. 1, by <strong><a title=\"Barry Reese\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/barry-reese\/\">Barry Reese<\/a><\/strong>. Here is a collection of Reese&#8217;s well-known New Pulp hero, originally named <strong>The Rook<\/strong>, who was one of the first I got.<\/li>\n<li><em>Prohibition<\/em> by <strong>Terrence McCauley<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>Pulp Heroes: More Than Mortal<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Wayne Reinagel\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/wayne-reinagel\/\">Wayne Reinagel<\/a><\/strong> is the first massive volume of his New Pulp series using pastiches of classic characters like Doc Savage, <strong><a title=\"The Shadow\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/category\/pulp-links\/the-shadow\/\">The Shadow<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a title=\"The Spider\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/category\/pulp-links\/the-spider\/\">The Spider<\/a><\/strong>, and others.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Pulptress<\/em>, Vol. 1, by various authors. This is the first with this original New Pulp heroine trained by many classical characters.<\/li>\n<li><em>Rabbit Heart<\/em> by Barry Reese<\/li>\n<li><em>Rasheeda, the Zombie Killer<\/em> by <strong>Jeff Carroll<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>The Revenge of the Masked Ghost<\/em> by <strong>Kevin Paul Shaw Broden<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em>Robin Hood: King of Sherwood<\/em> by I.A. This is the first in the <strong><a title=\"Abraham Snow\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/abraham-snow\/\">Abraham Snow<\/a><\/strong> series of action thriller with this former secret agent. I&#8217;ve read and reviewed all the ones so far.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Spur: Loki&#8217;s Rock<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Mark Ellis\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/mark-ellis\/\">Mark Ellis<\/a><\/strong>. This provides the first of a series of &#8220;lost&#8221; pulp stories with an aviation hero.<\/li>\n<li><em>Vegas Heist<\/em> by Van Allen Plexico<\/li>\n<li><em>Vic: Time Doesn&#8217;t Matter<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Jerry Gill\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/jerry-gill\/\">Jerry Gill<\/a><\/strong>. This is the first in this series of <strong><a title=\"Vic Challenger\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/vic-challenger\/\">Vic Challenger<\/a><\/strong>, a female pulp-style adventurer based on an <strong><a title=\"Edgar Rice Burroughs\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/edgar-rice-burroughs\/\">Edgar Rice Burroughs<\/a><\/strong> character. I&#8217;ve enjoyed the whole series and look forward to the next one.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Vril Agenda<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Joshua Reynolds\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/joshua-reynolds\/\">Joshua Reynolds<\/a><\/strong> and Derrick Ferguson. This book teams up classic pulp hero <strong><a title=\"Jim Anthony\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/jim-anthony\/\">Jim Anthony<\/a><\/strong> with Ferguson&#8217;s Dillon against <strong><a title=\"Sun Koh\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/sun-koh\/\">Sun Koh<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><em>A Week in Hell<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"J. Walt Layne\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/j-walt-layne\/\">J. Walt Layne<\/a><\/strong>. This is his first story set in Champion City and a police drama work <a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/2023\/09\/20\/a-week-in-hell\/\">that I recently read<\/a>. He has restarted using this setting.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Whitechapel Demon<\/em> by Joshua Reynolds. This is one of the few Royal Occultist novels.<\/li>\n<li><em>Will Write for Food: The Freelance Stories of Derrick Ferguson<\/em> by Derrick Ferguson<\/li>\n<li><em>Yesteryear<\/em> by <strong><a title=\"Tommy Hancock\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/tommy-hancock\/\">Tommy Hancock<\/a><\/strong>, who is behind <a title=\"title\" href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/pro-se-press\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pro Se Press<\/a>.
