They collect several short stories by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/joel-jenkins\/\">Joel Jenkins<\/a><\/strong> (and sometimes others). Some are standalone works; others are part of a series, some of which are or will be collected into other volumes. Some appeared elsewhere first; others appear for the first time here. I\u2019ll get to the final volume at some point. For those stories that are part of a series collected elsewhere, I won\u2019t go too far into.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/07\/weird-worlds-of-joel-jenkins-vol-2.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[16460]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-16906\" src=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/07\/weird-worlds-of-joel-jenkins-vol-2-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Weird Worlds of Joel Jenkins, Vol. 2\" width=\"350\" height=\"526\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/07\/weird-worlds-of-joel-jenkins-vol-2-682x1024.jpg 682w, https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/07\/weird-worlds-of-joel-jenkins-vol-2-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/07\/weird-worlds-of-joel-jenkins-vol-2-768x1153.jpg 768w, https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/files\/2023\/07\/weird-worlds-of-joel-jenkins-vol-2.jpg 999w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a>Like the first, if you\u2019re not familiar with Joel\u2019s works, this is a good intro to them.<\/p>\n<p>For this volume, we get the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Dust of Death\u201d is an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/eel-and-adder\/\">Eel and Adder<\/a><\/strong> story, about this strange pair who fight against the Nazis in pre-WWII New York. All their stories have been collected in <em>Midnight Avengers<\/em>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/2023\/01\/11\/midnight-avengers\/\">I\u2019ve reviewed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t get many historical fiction new pulp works, and \u201cThe Athena Palladium\u201d is set during the Trojan War, using one of the secondary characters from the <em>Iliad<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Another tale of assassin <strong>Monica Killingsworth<\/strong>, \u201cThe Mile High Killers\u201d has been collected in <em>Dead Blonde Walking<\/em>, the first Killingsworth collection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the Horns of El Diablo\u201d is a zombie action-thriller starring a skateboarder and a convenience-store clerk that has since been expanded to a novel, <em>Eyes of the Night<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>With \u201cBorder Trade\u201d by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/morgan-abbot\/\">Morgan Abbot<\/a><\/strong>, he teams up his character <strong>Dr. Jane Agnes Depoulignac<\/strong> with a pair of CIA agents from Joel\u2019s <strong>Gantlet Brothers<\/strong> series in a mission in Detroit. Sorry, I have no idea where else this character has appeared.<\/p>\n<p>Joel\u2019s werewolf, <strong>Jack Scarlet<\/strong>, stars in \u201cThe Plantation.\u201d He appeared in other works, but I\u2019m not familiar with them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlack Circle Storm\u201d is a story about road racing in a future world, which also involves a sinister organization. I read this in <em>Adventure Mystery Magazine<\/em> #1, but here the main character of <strong>Michael Thunder<\/strong> has been renamed to <strong>Bucky Thunder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Remnant Band\u201d is a dark <a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/sword-and-sorcery\/\">sword-and-sorcery<\/a> work, a sequel to another. This is part of a larger series of stories in the City of Bathos series.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/lone-crow\/\">Lone Crow<\/a><\/strong> is Joel\u2019s Native American <a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/occult-detectives\/\">occult detective<\/a> set in the Old West mainly. \u201cTrue Love\u201d is set early in his life, and is when he obtains his signature gun, which will later be blessed. This tale would be reprinted in the first Lone Crow collection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSwords Against Savaht\u201d is a story set on the Dire Planet, a planetary-romance series (think <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulpsuperfan\/tag\/john-carter\/\">John Carter of Mars<\/a><\/strong>), this time staring the mad scientist <strong>Sar Savaht<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Temple Houston<\/strong> was a real person, the son of <strong>Sam Houston<\/strong>. He actually appears in a Lone Crow story. \u201cGuns Against Temple\u201d is a story that is later reprinted in the recent <em>Guns Against Temple<\/em> collection where he has to deal with somebody after him, helped by a corrupt sheriff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Hidden Glen\u201d is another fantasy tale set in Saffronyia, since collected in <em>Swords of Saffronyia<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>There you have it. It&#8217;s another great collection of varied stories from Joel Jenkins. I hope to get to the third volume soon.
