I got the most recent issues of Bronze Knuckles<\/a><\/em>, a New Pulp<\/a> fanzine. The main emphasis of the fanzine is pulp-hero stories, but other pulp-inspired stories are carried.<\/p>\n

\"Bronze<\/a>It’s slogan is \u201cKeep Pulp Alive” and done through a Patreon campaign<\/a>. You may purchase the digital editions from their store, but if you want the hard copies, you’ll need to join the Patreon.<\/p>\n

Like the rest, each issue is about 40 pages long, about 8- by 10.5-inches in size, and saddle stitched. They use an off-white paper inside that I think was chosen in imitation of the color of pulp paper, which I thought was a nice touch. The covers are in full color, with black-and-white interior artwork.<\/p>\n

Bronze Knuckles<\/em> #8 (July 2023)<\/strong>. The cover feature is the latest in the “Amazing Acres” series, “Auld Lang Die” by Scott Mollon<\/a><\/strong> and Jo Wong<\/a><\/strong>. Prior works are in issues #4 and 5. There is also a Dogman<\/a><\/strong> story, which seems a sort of monster-hunter\/occult-detective-type character. This should be the first of several stories with this character, and I look forward to them.<\/p>\n

\"Bronze<\/a>Bronze Knuckles<\/em> #9 (October 2023)<\/strong>. The cover feature is a new story on The Whirlwind<\/a><\/strong>. The Whirlwind is a Zorro<\/a><\/strong>-like character created by Johnston McCulley<\/a><\/strong>, though I was puzzled that this wasn’t noted. The new story by Anthony Perconti<\/a><\/strong> and David Brian Michel<\/a><\/strong> was good.<\/p>\n

More interesting to me is the latest Adventurers Inc.<\/a><\/strong> story by Alexandre LeVasseur<\/a><\/strong>, “The Wichita Lights.”\u00a0 Bit shorted then prior outings, but decent.\u00a0 I hope others pick up on the references to a couple of pulp heroes. He also included a brief overview of the characters and a promise of the next one. I do hope at some point they are all collected into a volume, maybe with the original story. And a crime story that I could see having appeared in the 1940s or \u201950s.<\/p>\n

In both issues, we get the next in the Ichabod Crane, Monster Hunter<\/a><\/strong> series and a reprint of the first few pages of the golden age comic story of Flyin’ Jenny<\/a><\/strong>, a female pilot who gets into various escapades.<\/p>\n
