A new fanzine<\/a> devoted to Edgar Rice Burroughs<\/a><\/strong> is RevERBerate<\/em>. The first issue came out in May 2025 and is 48 pages printed on high-quality, glossy pages, perfect-bound with cardstock covers. It’s edited and published by Scott Tracy Griffin<\/a><\/strong>. You can contact him through his website<\/a> to obtain a copy.<\/p>\n

\"RevERBerate<\/a>This first issue has several articles by Griffin and both non-fiction and fiction by Gary A. Buckingham<\/a><\/strong>, who has published several authorized Tarzan<\/a><\/strong> works, with more on the way.<\/p>\n

First from Griffin is an interview with cover artist Benito Gallego<\/a><\/strong>, who has done the comic strips for Tarzan and The Outlaw of Torn<\/strong>. Next is an article on Gene Pollar<\/strong>, who was a former fireman who starred as Tarzan in the silent film The Revenge of Tarzan<\/em> (1920). Sadly, it appears this film isn’t available to audiences, but hopefully it will be restored.<\/p>\n

From Buckingham are several pieces, many dealing with the inspirations and influences on Burroughs’ writing, as well as some of his fiction. One looks at the search for the source of the Nile. Another is on the Ugandan railroad that includes an excerpt from his work Tarzan: Untamed Frontiers<\/em>. We get a piece on the Gulf of Guinea, which is the area of West Africa where Tarzan first started, with an excerpt on Paul d’Arnot<\/a><\/strong> from Tarzan the Avenger<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Finally, we get a reprint from a chapbook Tarzan in Lawless Times<\/em>, created for the 2023 Dum-Dum in Wisconsin, which has Tarzan confronting the Hodag<\/strong>, the mythical beast of the Wisconsin woods.<\/p>\n

Overall, this was an enjoyable work. I’m not sure how often they plan on putting this out or if they will do subscriptions, but I will keep an eye out for future issues. Hopefully, we can see an inclusion from other contributors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
