Clearly devoted to Edgar Rice Burroughs, Caz soon took over with the death of Al. He ran it for several years until ending publication in 1976 with No. 89.

Caz later got back into publishing with a revival of The Fantasy Collector with No. 201 in December 1988. It was renamed The Fantastic Collector with No. 228, and soon re-incorporated ERB-dom into the zine with No. 248 (double-billed as The Fantastic Collector No. 248/ERB-dom No. 90). These zines reprinted classic pulp fiction from the early 20th century, usually of the “lost race,” high adventure, SF adventure types from Burroughs, A. Merrit, Talbot Mundy, H. Rider Haggard, H. Bedford-Jones and the like, along with articles and reviews on these types of pulp fiction (and of course Burroughs’ work).

The last issue was The Fantastic Collector No. 262/ERB-dom No. 104 in November 1996. In January 1997, the first issue of Pulpdom appeared, billed as the “son of ERBdom.” It continued reprinting classic fantastic stories from various early pulps such as Argosy, All-Story, and Blue Book, along with running articles and reviews. Some notable items were articles looking at the early years of Argosy, Blue Book, the origins of Tarzan, a revisit to Pellucidar, and more. Reprints included Burroughs’ original “Under the Moons of Mars,” various works by H. Bedford-Jones, Johnston McCulley, Ray Cummings, Merritt, and others.

With issue #25, color covers and some color pages were included. And after 75 issues, Pulpdom ended on August 2013. You can now order PDFs of back issues all the Pulpdom issues for a reasonable cost.

However, Pulpdom is not dead. It continues as a PDF-zine called Pulpdom Online. At this point seven issues have been put out. A lot of articles on Tarzan, but many others in recent issues, with reviews of recent pulp-related books and other materials.

If you’ve never checked out Pulpdom, please do so. It’s a great zine that focuses on an important area of pulp. The Pulpdom website has an index of all the back issues, and info on purchasing the back issues is there. as well as Pulpdom Online.

A long-running pulp fanzine that recently made the move to being an online publication is Pulpdom.
