I recently received the second new issue of The Bronze Gazette<\/em>, #77, now published by Pulplications<\/a>. This is the final issue for this year. They also did a special edition for the 2016 Doc Con<\/a>, and I was able to order a copy (it wasn’t part of the subscription). Check, as they may still have copies.<\/p>\n

Fall 2016, #77<\/h3>\n

\""The<\/a>This issue has a cover by Steve Rude<\/strong>, called “Ebony Intrusion,” that features Pat Savage<\/strong>. It was commissioned by a fan, and copies were sold as posters. This ties into the interview with Rude on Doc Savage<\/strong>: his impression of the artwork of Doc, his own Doc artwork, which includes a piece done at the Doc Con 2015 with Ron Ely<\/strong> as Doc. This is an edited interview, and the full interview is on their website.<\/p>\n

We also get a piece on the upcoming Doc movie, giving some proposals for who should star as Doc’s aides and Pat. There is an interview with Howard Wright<\/strong>, the original publisher of The Bronze Gazette<\/em>. And there’s a review of the most recent Doc Savage mini from Dynamite.<\/p>\n

Will Murray<\/strong> provides background on the creation of the new Pat Savage novel, Six Scarlet Scorpions<\/em>, which is now out. We learn the genesis of the story, and the Lester Dent<\/strong> outlines he used to create the story. This really adds to the enjoyment of the story.<\/p>\n

Julian Puga<\/strong> gives us another great article, this time looking at the Tunnel Terror<\/em> and its true location.<\/p>\n

Finally, Tim Byrd<\/strong> provides an introduction to his Doc pastiche, Doc Wylde<\/strong>. I haven’t been able to read this character, but hope to at some point.<\/p>\n

Special Edition #1 (2016 Doc Con)<\/h3>\n

\""The<\/a>The cover of the issue has Doc and his aides along with the Con’s guests of honor: Will Murray and Joe DeVito<\/strong>. This special issue was almost as long as a regular issue.<\/p>\n

Jeff Deischer<\/strong> has two articles asking questions of Murray and DeVito.<\/p>\n

Murray gives an article on Pat Savage, tying into her recent new solo novel. This was not a repeat of the previous article, but more a retrospective on Pat.<\/p>\n

Bobb Cotter<\/strong> has an article on Walter Baumhofer<\/strong>, the first Doc cover artist.<\/p>\n

And there is a retrospect on the previous Doc Con in words (by Dafydd Neal Dyar<\/strong>) and photos, and info on this Con’s guests.<\/p>\n

Both these issues were great and I enjoyed everything in both issues.<\/p>\n

Pulplications is already taking subscriptions for the three issues for 2017. I’ve already subscribed and encourage others to do the same.
