NOTE: Dial B for Burbank is no longer active. | Kudos go out to Kirk Kimball, aka Burbank, aka Robby Reed, for his terrific blog, Dial B for Burbank, devoted to everyone’s favorite Night Master, The Shadow.
The limited-time blog started back around April and was clearly not an off-the-cuff project. Burbank/Reed obviously had researched his postings carefully. As it turned out for regular readers, his research resulted in a spectacular 10-part video documentary.
In late June, the first episode, “The Weed of Crime,” debuted and was quickly followed by subsequent episodes. Following the last segment, you could download the whole shebang as a whopping 587-megabyte file. (You might find the individual segments more manageable.)
The documentary is enjoyable and informative, and features a variety of voice artists portraying characters and people from The Shadow’s past, as well as actual recordings from vintage radio shows and movies.
It took a while for Dial B for Burbank to show up on TPN’s Pulp.Blogs listing. (With some side projects going on, TPN updates weren’t happening as quickly as they should have been.) And sadly, Burbank reported in late July that the Dial B for Burbank project had been completed and no more postings would be coming.
So, while it’s still online, head over to Dial B for Burbank for an in-depth look at The Shadow.

Hi Bill,
I downloaded and burned this to a disc and think it’s a fantastic documentary. Good enough to play on cable in my opinion. I know it is going to be shown for the folks at the Doc Savage LaPlata Con put on by Wayne Judge.
What a treat.
