A turnabout rejection slip

Here’s a funny take on the form-letter rejection slip.

Still stinging from having his early stories repeatedly turned down, John D. MacDonald slipped paper into his typewriter for a bit of humor aimed at the editors of pulp magazines. MacDonald, of course, went on to have hundreds of stories published in the pulps before finding more success in books with his gumshoe Travis McGee.

The Letters of Note blog posts a scan of MacDonald’s original letter, as well as easier-to-read transcript.
