Bits of Pulp Events News PulpFest

PulpFest 2012 begins Thursday

I’m in the midst of a move from Arizona to Florida, so I won’t be venturing to Columbus, Ohio, this coming weekend for PulpFest. Hopefully, you will be.

The annual pulp convention — which succeeded the grandfather of all pulp gatherings, Pulpcon — has a full agenda of events in store for those lucky enough to attend.

Beginning the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 9, John Locke kicks off the con with a discussion of the working condition of pulp fictioneers. The evening brings presentations on the French influence on American pulps, a salute to John W. Campbell‘s Astounding Stories, Edgar Rice Burroughs‘ Tarzan.

And there’s always the pulp-packed dealers’ room.

For a look at the full slate of events for the four-day con, click over to the PulpFest website for complete details. And like last year, FarmerCon — celebrating the work of Philip José Farmer — will be running concurrently.

Even if you can’t attend, you can register as a supporting member for $20. Besides receiving a copy of this year’s issue of The Pulpster, you’ll be supporting a fine pulp event.

Check back here at Yellowed Perils as the con progresses and afterward. We’ll be posting links to con recaps, photos and more.
