PulpFest’s website reports that longtime pulp fan and book dealer Richard E. Clear Sr. has died.
He died March 21, 2015, at the age of 71.
Clear opened the Dragon’s Lair comic book store in Dayton, Ohio, in 1973, then Merlin’s Books in Tampa, Fla., in 1983. He returned to Ohio where he sold books online.
He was the author of “Old Magazines Collector’s Price Guide” and “Old Magazines: Identification and Value Guide.”
For his support of Pulpcon, the predecessor of PulpFest, Clear received the Lamont Award at Pulpcon 17 in 1988.
