The cars are loaded, and Jeff Shanks and I on the road to PulpFest 2026 this morning.
It’s a bit of a drive from Tallahassee. we’ll be arriving in Mars, Penn., on the northern side of Pittsburgh, tomorrow.
For the most part, Wednesday will be devoted to setting up for the convention. There is one presentation, “A Century of Robert K. Abbett,” scheduled for the evening.
Things really get underway on Thursday, with early-bird shopping and a full slate of evening programming beginning with PulpFest committee chair Jack Cullers’ welcome. PulpFest programming runs through Saturday evening, ending with the auction. The dealers’ room is open Sunday morning until noon, but by then most dealers are packing and leaving.
As in past years, I will be posting photos throughout PulpFest and a daily roundup each morning through Saturday. So, check back here at Yellowed Perils each day starting tomorrow for those.
I’ll be recording most of the presentations and will get them edited and posted to the Pulp Tales podcast later this fall.
While Pulp Tales gives you a chance to hear the presentations, I hope that you will be able to experience them in person. The presentations are only part of PulpFest. There’s the dealers’ room (chock-full of pulps and pulp-adjacent items) and general fellowship among pulp fans. First up, there’s FarmerCon, the long-running convention devoted to Philip José Farmer. Doc Con returned last year at PulpFest; this year marks the debut of The Shadow Con. One celebrates Doc Savage, while the other celebrates The Shadow.
