There&#8217;s a nice profile of him over at <strong>David Saunders<\/strong>&#8216; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pulpartists.com\/Lundgren.html\" target=\"_blank\">Pulp Artists website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Nickel Detective<\/em> is one of those curious examples of a pulp magazine publisher trying to find the right niche.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/pulp-info\/pulp-bibliography\/pulps-in-general\/#Ultimate_Guide\"><em>Bookery Fantasy&#8217;s Ultimate Guide to the Pulps<\/em><\/a>, this issue is actually volume 4 number 2 of what began as the rather directly named <em>Man Stories<\/em> in October 1930. Its title changed to the more prosaic <em>Popular Fiction Magazine<\/em> in November 1931, then <em>Nickel Detective<\/em> in January 1933. By November 1933, the magazine was <em>Strange Detective Stories<\/em>. By February 1934, it ended.<\/p>\n<p>Offered as a diversion from <a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/yellowedperils\/category\/pulps\/great-pulp-art\/\">Great Pulp Art<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You know, I don&#8217;t find this guy the least bit terrifying, despite his title.
