Something becomes popular, and everyone tries to copy it. At first glance, I thought it was a <a href=\"http:\/\/thepulp.net\/PulpWiki\/wikka.php?wakka=DocSavage\">Doc Savage<\/a> pulp. It sure looks like the Man of Bronze.<\/p>\n<p>(The cover of this August 1938 pulp was painted by <a href=\"http:\/\/thepulp.net\/PulpWiki\/wikka.php?wakka=SaundersNorman\">Norman Saunders<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>I wonder how often <a href=\"http:\/\/thepulp.net\/PulpWiki\/wikka.php?wakka=PulpPublishers\">pulp publishers<\/a> aped the covers or characters from the most popular pulps to boost the sales of their own pulps?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019re all familiar with copycats.
