But as <strong>John Dinan<\/strong> points out in his book &#8220;The Pulp Western&#8221;:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"width:280px;\"><p>During (the 1920s, &#8217;30s and &#8217;40s), the pulps published western fiction in phenomenal abundance, reflecting the public&#8217;s desire of escapist reading. There has been, perhaps, no greater amount of written material produced in such a short time on a given theme, before or since.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dinan goes on to list 184 western pulp titles.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->In a recent post at Rough Edges, James Reasoner picks his favorite western pulp magazines.
