\"Startling<\/a>One of the focuses of this year’s PulpFest<\/a> is the 85th anniversary of the science-fiction pulps of 1939.<\/p>\n

To get you prepared, Mike Chomko<\/a><\/strong> has begun a series<\/a> tracing the history of SF from before and during the pulp era.<\/p>\n

Check out the PulpFest site<\/a> regularly for the continuing story.<\/p>\n

SPREADING THE WORD:<\/strong> Jeff Shanks<\/a><\/strong> and I are planning to attending this weekend’s Alt*Con<\/a> here in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday, April 12, to spread the word about the pulps.<\/p>\n

Assuming things work out, we’ll be doing a panel on the pulp origins of modern fandon, comics, superheroes and genre fiction, with plenty of pulp history thrown in.<\/p>\n

DAVY CROCKETT’S PULP ADVENTURES:<\/strong> If it’s not one of your regular stops on the web, you really should be visiting Davy Crockett’s Almanack of Mystery, Adventure and the Wild West<\/a> regularly.<\/p>\n

\"TintinIt’s Evan Lewis<\/strong>‘ blog. And he often posts “forgotten” and unreprinted pulp stories. Just this past Friday, for instance, he posted “Hop Cargo<\/a>,” a short story by Robert Leslie Bellem<\/a><\/strong> from the July 1937 number of Spicy Adventure<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

YOUR PULP LAFF:<\/strong> Tim Knight<\/strong>, over at Hero Press<\/a>, has posted a collection of spoof covers<\/a> of Tintin<\/strong> comic books with a pulpy twist.<\/p>\n

Rather than the usual adventures, the young Belgian reporter and his trusty pooch, Snowy<\/strong>, confront the worst of H.P. Lovecraft<\/a><\/strong>‘s horrors.<\/p>\n

The covers were created by Muzski<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
