A new Pulp AdventureCon<\/a> opens the year on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Universal Palms Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., while the long-running Pulp AdventureCon closes the season on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Ramada Inn in Bordentown, N.J. Both shows run from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

In between, though, are plenty of opportunities for you to attend a pulp gathering.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, March 22, the Los Angeles Vintage Paperback Collectors Show<\/a> (formerly the Mission Hills show) is back for its 36th year from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Glendale, Calif., Civic Auditorium. More than 45 authors and artists are expected to attend. While it focuses on paperbacks, the show also has pulps and pulp-related books for sale by vendors.<\/p>\n

On April 17-19, the 15th annual Windy City Pulp and Paper Convention<\/a> returns to the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center, Lombard, Ill. (a suburb of Chicago). The convention will be celebrating the 125th anniversary of the birthday of horror master H.P. Lovecraft<\/strong>. In addition to a large vendors room, the con features plenty of programming, an auction, and a film series.<\/p>\n

That same Sunday, April 19, the 61st Michigan Antiquarian Book & Paper Show<\/a> takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lansing Center in Lansing, Mich.<\/p>\n

The next month, Neil<\/strong> and Leigh Mecham<\/strong>, the brothers behind Girasol Collectibles<\/a>, will be holding the 19th annual Fantastic Pulps Show & Sale<\/a> from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lillian H. Smith Branch of the Toronto Public Library in Toronto, Ont.<\/p>\n

The Edgar Rice Burroughs Chain of Friendship (ECOF)<\/a> has its annual gathering June 4-7 in Rockville, Md.<\/p>\n

Cross Plains, Texas, will be celebrating Robert E. Howard Days<\/a> from June 12-13.<\/p>\n

PulpFest 2015<\/a>, the successor to the long-running Pulpcon, returns to Columbus, Ohio, on Aug. 13-16. Like Windy City, this multi-day gathering of pulp fans features a large dealer room, an auction, and plenty of programming. Joining PulpFest again this year will be FarmerCon X<\/a>, celebrating the works of writer Philip Jos\u00e9 Farmer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Aug. 20-23, fans of Edgar Rice Burroughs<\/strong> will again gather for the annual Dum Dum<\/a>. This year’s convention will be in Clinton, Conn.<\/p>\n

October brings a couple of pulp gatherings that have yet finalized their dates.<\/p>\n

Kincon<\/a>, formerly Edmond Hamilton<\/strong> & Leigh Brackett<\/strong> Day, will be held in Kinsman, Ohio, to honor the science fiction writing couple.<\/p>\n

Fans of Doc Savage<\/strong> will convene in Glendale, Ariz., for Doc Con XVIII<\/a>. (A date for Doc Con should be known in late April, after the Arizona Cardinals finalize their fall football schedule.)<\/p>\n

We’ll post dates for both of these conventions as soon as they are set.<\/p>\n

And, as I mentioned at the start, rounding out the convention season is Pulp AdventureCon in New Jersey on Nov. 7.<\/p>\n
