I got a laugh out of this “Tarzan of the Apes Playset and Diorama” that turned up in my RSS reader earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Tim Knight<\/strong> posted a number of photos of the set on his Hero Press<\/em> blog<\/a>. He had this to say: “If I’d had this playset as a youngster (hell, if I had it now!) my entire life would revolve around recreating the story of Tarzan of the Apes<\/a><\/strong> and spinning off my own imaginary adventures.”<\/p>\n

The photo above shows the grown Apeman with members of the Great-Ape tribe.<\/p>\n

But what really made me laugh was the photo below. Tim accurately describes it as “a frighteningly detailed recreation of the hut where Tarzan’s parents died (including their rotting corpses<\/em>), complete with the cot containing the skeleton of the infant ape that young Tarzan was swapped for by the ape that raised him.”<\/p>\n

Clearly this is someone’s modern-day, custom-built collection, not some long-lost playset from years ago (as it is described in the original post on Calvin’s Canadian Cave of Cool<\/a><\/em> blog). I can’t imagine this was a kid’s toy.<\/p>\n
