(Sorry, other projects kept me from posting this entry earlier.)<\/p>\n<p>The game is obviously based on <a href=\"http:\/\/thepulp.net\/PulpWiki\/wikka.php?wakka=HowardRobertE\">Robert E. Howard<\/a>\u2019s barbarian adventure series. But rather than assuming the role of <a href=\"http:\/\/thepulp.net\/PulpWiki\/wikka.php?wakka=ConanTheBarbarian\">Conan<\/a>, players create their own characters to inhabit the online ancient world.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the Web site, there are plenty of weird creatures, dangerous warriors and eerie locales to make your virtual life in this virtual Hyborian world plenty difficult.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a Windows-only game, but if you have an dual-boot Intel Mac, you may be able to give it a try. The game initially costs about $50, with 30 days of free access. After that, there\u2019s a monthly fee.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s free, though, to click around its Web site. You\u2019ll find <a href=\"http:\/\/community.ageofconan.com\/wsp\/conan\/frontend.cgi?func=publish.show&amp;template=content&amp;func_id=2324&amp;table=CONTENT\" target=\"_blank\">background information<\/a> on Conan lore, as well as artwork and wallpaper.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0William<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve never been much of a computer gamer.
