He was 73.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Tuska ran Golden West Literary Agency, with his wife, <strong>Vicki Piekarski<\/strong>, which managed the literary estates of a number of western authors, including <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/PulpWiki\/FaustFrederick\">Max Brand<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Walt Coburn<\/strong> and <strong>Les Savage Jr.<\/strong> In <a href=\"http:\/\/mysteryfile.com\/blog\/?p=520\" target=\"_blank\">a post at <\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/mysteryfile.com\/blog\/?p=520\" target=\"_blank\">Mystery*File<\/a><\/em> in 2008, Tuska wrote about western collections and how the agency came about.<\/p>\n<p>Tuska was a <a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/PulpWiki\/PulpconGuestsofHonor\">Guest of Honor<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/PulpWiki\/Pulpcon\">Pulpcon 31<\/a> in 2002. He wrote introductions for several western pulp anthologies, and articles for <a href=\"https:\/\/thepulp.net\/PulpWiki\/PulpFanzines\">pulp fanzines<\/a> including <em>Purple Prose<\/em> and <em>Pulp Vault<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>A hat-tip to <strong>Bill Crider<\/strong>, who posted <a href=\"http:\/\/billcrider.blogspot.com\/2016\/02\/jon-tuska-r-i-p.html\" target=\"_blank\">a notice of Tuska&#8217;s death<\/a> on his blog, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/billcrider.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Crider&#8217;s Pop Culture Magazine<\/a><\/em>, late Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jon Tuska, an anthologist and historian of the pulp western, died Jan. 18, 2016, at his home in Portland, Ore., after a brief battle with cancer.
