Hudson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I logged into Facebook last night around 11 p.m. and was shocked to see that <strong>Audrey Parente<\/strong> had shared in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/southernpulpsters\/\" target=\"_blank\">Southern Pulpsters<\/a> group a post that artist, writer, and editor <strong>Michael R. Hudson<\/strong> had died suddenly an hour or so earlier. He was 61.<\/p>\n<p>Michael was behind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sequentialpulpcomics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sequential Pulp Comics<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ravensheadpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Raven&#8217;s Head Press<\/a>, and before those, he ran <a href=\"http:\/\/reelartstudios.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">ReelArt Studios<\/a>, which produced collectible statues of pulp, comics, and pin-up art.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->I knew him online from his years creating statues of characters such as <strong>The Spider<\/strong>, <strong>Tarzan<\/strong>, <strong>Buck Rogers<\/strong>, and <strong>Prince Valiant<\/strong>. I finally met him in person and got to know him better at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boldventurepress.com\/pacon1.html\" target=\"_blank\">Pulp AdventureCon<\/a> in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the past couple of years.<\/p>\n<p>Through Sequential Pulp and Raven&#8217;s Head, he had published graphic novels and reprints of a number of pulp stories. Many of his Sequential Pulp books were brought out through Dark Horse Comics. More recently, Michael had run a successful Kickstarter campaign to publish a graphic novel adaptation of Fredric Brown&#8217;s classic <em>Martians, Go Home!<\/em> illustrated by <strong>Lowell Isaac<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A native of Memphis, Michael had lived in Clearwater and along the west coast of Florida for a number of years. <\/p>\n<p>Rest in peace, Michael.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I logged into Facebook last night around 11 p.m. and was shocked to see that Audrey Parente had shared in the Southern Pulpsters group a post that artist, writer, and editor Michael R.
