This year marks a number of anniversaries: 130 years since The Argosy<\/a><\/em> became the first pulp magazine; 100 years since the first science-fiction pulp, Amazing Stories<\/a><\/em>, hit newsstands; 30 years since ThePulp.Net<\/a> first appeared online as .Pulp<\/a>; and 20 years since I made the first post<\/a> on this blog, Yellowed Perils<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\"20<\/a>Now, I’m not saying ThePulp.Net<\/a> or Yellowed Perils<\/em> are in the same pantheon as Argosy<\/em> or Amazing Stories<\/em>, just noting the coincidence.<\/p>\n

Blogging about pulps had been on my mind, and when I firmed up plans to attend my first Pulpcon<\/a> in 2006, I decided Yellowed Perils<\/em> would be a good way to post live from the con.<\/p>\n

I recall sitting in the con suite late each evening, typing up a brief recap of the day and posting photos. I didn’t make it back to the summer pulp convention \u2014 by then renamed PulpFest<\/a> \u2014 until 2010, but I kept blogging periodically.<\/p>\n

While I’m not blogging as actively as I was at one point (or would like to), I still post daily recaps from PulpFest<\/a> while its going on. And I plan to do the same again this year.<\/p>\n

PulpFest<\/a> gets underway Wednesday evening, July 29<\/a>, with dealer-room setup and a panel on artist Robert K. Abbett<\/strong>. The convention proper begins Thursday, July 30. I will upload photos to ThePulp.Net\u2019s Facebook<\/a>, Instagram<\/a>, and Threads<\/a> accounts throughout the con, so if you aren’t following ThePulp.Net on those social media platforms, please do.<\/p>\n

I also plan on recording audio from most of the PulpFest<\/a> presentations. Once I get home and have a chance to edit the recordings, they will be available as episodes in the Pulp Tales<\/a><\/em> podcast.<\/p>\n
