The con is just under three months away.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s con will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, at <strong>Jay Ryan<\/strong>\u2019s house in Peoria, Ariz. While Jay is hosting the con, I\u2019ve taken over the role of this year\u2019s program coordinator. That\u2019s a change from previous years, where the host did double-duty and really didn\u2019t get to enjoy the con.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re celebrating the 70th anniversary of <strong>Doc Savage<\/strong> in comics and the 75th anniversary of the first appearance of <strong>Chemistry the ape<\/strong> in the novels.<\/p>\n<p>Cost for the con will be $20 again this year, which includes a copy of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lulu.com\/jryands\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Big Book of Bronze, Volume 3<\/em><\/a>.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nOn the bill this year will be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> A discussion about Arizona State University students\u2019 essays on Doc Savage\/<strong>Prof. Challenger<\/strong> (from \u201cLost World\u201d), by <strong>Paul Cook<\/strong><\/li>\n<li> Doc\u2019s vest vs. Batman\u2019s utility belt (as well as their other gadgets), by <strong>Steve Ringgenberg<\/strong><\/li>\n<li> A presentation by Howard Wright, publisher of <a href=\"http:\/\/thepulp.net\/PulpFAQ\/zines.html#bronzegazette\"><em>Bronze Gazette<\/em><\/a>\n<li> A look at \u201c<strong>Monk Mayfair<\/strong> as Doc Savage\u2019s Id,\u201d by <strong>Fred Forino<\/strong><\/li>\n<li> Something puzzling from the Doc Con quiz master, <strong>Glenn Horner<\/strong><\/li>\n<li> Something having to do with the Doc Savage Method of Self Development, by Jay<\/li>\n<li> The forgotten Doc Savage TV script, by me<\/li>\n<li> A video retrospective of Doc Savage comic books, with contributions by Howard, Jay, <strong>Courtney Rogers<\/strong> and me<\/li>\n<li> Doc Con After Dark (our Saturday evening activity) will feature the screening of a video on the pulp era.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We\u2019d welcome additional presentations, if anyone is so moved. Of course, if you would like to just be a participant, rather than a presenter, we\u2019d be happy for you to attend.<\/p>\n<p>While the \u201cofficial\u201d con day is Saturday, Nov. 13, we kick the weekend off on Friday night, Nov. 12, with a radio play re-enactment.
