Super Science Stories for November 1941, featuring the first appearance by Ray Bradbury
Belated birthday wishes to author Ray Bradbury. He turned 86 on Tuesday.

Inspired by the pulps, Bradbury took up writing and published his first for-pay story in the November 1941 number of Super Science Stories (at left), an issue that also featured stories by Henry Kuttner, Ray Cummings and Charles R. Tanner. From there, Bradbury continued writing for the pulps, then for books and, well, the rest is history.

Take a break today to celebrate Bradbury, pick up one of his books, say The Martian Chronicles, and savor a chapter or story. You’ll be the better for it.
