Obituaries People Pulps

RIP: Larry Latham

Just saw a post on Facebook by Will Murray saying that Larry Latham has died. Larry’s wife, Kelly Reynolds, confirms this in a post on the Lovecraft Is Missing website.

Larry, 61, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 2. He had been battling cancer.

He was a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, so much so that he created an online comic, “Lovecraft Is Missing,” that began running in 2008. His latest panels published Saturday, Nov. 1. Larry’s website also includes articles and posts in addition to panels from the strip. That’s Larry above, posing next to Lovecraft’s marker.

He gave an extensive interview at All Pulp back in 2011. There’s a somewhat longer tribute to him at Mark Evanier‘s News From Me blog.

Larry had contributed an article for The Pulpster earlier this year, but we ran short of space and had to hold it. He agreed that it could run next issue. I’m sorry we weren’t able to publish it in time for him to see.

  • Larry Latham also had two articles on dime novels in the last two issues of BLOOD n THUNDER. I kept meaning to write him about his collection of WESTERN STORY magazines. I need only 11 early issues in 1919 and 1920 to complete my set and I knew he had several issues that I need. Too late now…
